No need for CoCKY

September 23, 2007 - One Response

As i type this, i’m still wondering where the hell i got so much guts to do what i’m about to tell you. so anyway, u guys already know that the competition clip we did was about the ungracious youth in our society.

So what happened 2 days back was quite startling. I was in the bus and i heard someone blasting music from his/her handphone. so i was eyeing this girl i thought was the culprit. Turns out that the man in front of me was the one who owned the handphone. yes, a full grown male of the human species.  yup. so i asked him to turned the volume down because “i don’t wanna hear your music” and he dared shake his head at me! i’m like hello. so i said “dont shake your head, it’s affecting the whole bus”. then he apologised.

wah lau, got the cheek to shake head somemore. anyway, when i was telling the rest of makoweiz, they expressed concern over my outspoken-ness and warned me against doing such things anymore lest the person calls a whole gang of handphone blasting youths or the full grown versions to hunt me down and wallop me. like whoa. of course i wont go and choose those skinny ah bengs to provoke lah. i will see if the person will have the shame to feel embarrassed before i unload my wrath upon them. like the chinese adult male in nice white long sleeved collared shirt n trousers, fresh from a day of stressful work. he was just asking for it man.

i don’t even know if it can be said that we are shocked. because im pretty certain our shock-ness has gone way beyond the roof. but after faiz checking and then re-checking and then i check and re-checking and subsequent checking from boey and koon… we CONPHERM

after a series of “omg“s and “serious not?!” and “gasps” and “AHHHH“… i am here to continue our series of thank you’s.

i know as well as the rest of my grp members and beloved actors that we are nowhere near our competitors in terms of cinematography, continuity, creativity and many more c’s… and i also know that we are not as popular amongst the comment-leavers.

but i do know that we have a loyal base of friends and family…  who have clearly shown their support for us in concrete action. this was really highly unexpected. i cannot emphasize how unexpected this is. so thank you, friends and families – for your support and love and ‘passing on the news’ . we at makoweiz are deeply in gratitude.

till the next one, if there is a next one, je ne sais pas. -ma-

Go Harvey!

September 14, 2007 - Leave a Response

Go Harvey, go Harvey, go Harvey Norman, go!

At exactly 6.55pm today, i received an sms going:”Oh my god.we won the stand up com!”, from dear Sis aka member ‘iz’. Shrouded in disbelieve and genuine astonishment, it took me a while before i’d slowly awoken from my sweet slumber on board the window seat of 171 (in which i took bloody 1 hr 15 min to get home from Dhoby Ghaut due to a pseudo-Calcutta jam, after buying some Putumayo Arabic cds but that’s entirely another matter altogether). Anyway, back to me and my thoughts. Wasn’t expecting such news at all. i mean guys, it is a colossal task having to fend off some loyal fan base (or so we thought) for the last one month or so, seeing that we are mere commoners, you know. Plus, box-office reviews weren’t totally positive (to put it mildly) and we have only ourselves to blame for that. But the show must go on. And on it went, belittled yet proud. Oh well, what can i say? Well… for one, i know this blog space has served its purpose and we will repay Thee, O dearest blessed Blog by prolonging your existence.

Other things i can say:

‘Ma’ – Fret not about your chiro sessions but about your time not spent with us. Hope you had a back-breaking time as did i. Besides, i suspect you and your ties/allies have helped tremendously (in defeating the dark lord, nah just kidding).

‘ko’ – Will forever be a huge fan of your lips. Loves them. He he he! P.S.: Will never get the vision of you splayed out on the concrete floor of the rooftop.

‘iz’ – You’re the best sis i’ve ever had, sis. Cos you’re the only sis i’ve ever had.

Nicolette – Would have chosen no one else to fill your role. Tops. Call us when you get famous. (Send me an autographed poster leh.)

Joshua – Hate the specs. Hate the hair. Loves the effort and dedication. Dinner’s coming your way. Damian prevailed.

Nah – Okay la, since no has yet mentioned you, I SHALL. You were the inspiration behind the use of the “Community” song and the creation of this blog. The invisible pub-pub-publicicitist!

Yup, and that’s all. Harvey, here we come.

Tres-Bien!

September 6, 2007 - One Response

Hi-ho the dairy-oh!

Member ‘we’ is finally in the house (exactly one week after the final clip submission). After much procrastination, and not forgetting my aversion to blogging, me is willings to doose dis. Seeing that my fellows, ma, ko and iz, have done their part in contibuting to this blog (which was set up for the sole purpose of garnering votes), i have decided to swing by and leave a part of me here. It was indeed a life changing experience… sorry, wrong entry.

Being part of Makoweiz was the tops. And this being our very first collaboration together, i declare it a resounding success. And by ‘resounding success’ i mean no pressure, fun & laughter, great company, getting intimate with the off-beat coloured styrofoam butterfly hat, learning the lyrics to the “community” song* and then trying to spread the goodness of the song and for which we were then being chastised for singing too loudly (what can we say? we just love our community, don’t you?)… oh yes, and managing to avoid the ‘in’ place known to us all as, la rue de orchard (huh, take that Marie! and btw May, it’s orchard rd). Plus we’re all still happy and well. Gold stars all around! Success indeed.

Meanwhile, we all wait.

Tresbien,
- ‘we’.

P.S.: Makoweiz has proudly been renamed Makoweiz Productions Pte. Ltd. and is currently undergoing an organisational restructuring.

P.P.S.: Just kidding.

Truly A-may-zing

August 29, 2007 - Leave a Response

I just realised something. All the scenes in all the parts of our video were shot in and around NTUWKWSCI. Like seriously. haha. Even a keyword like Orchard Road couldn’t pull us away from our beloved school. We really love it that much. So, just to put it down on record, here are the places in and around school that became our sets:

1. CS bus-stop – in full view of 2 million students trying to get home at 6pm

2. CS Tutorial Room 5 – a professor had to come in to stop May from screaming “It’s You Who Build Community”

3. Mac Lab – where we shot the sequence of Damien being abducted. The paper puppets were the most hilarious thing that happened during this production. Thanks to Shan’s oversized puppet for Damien, who also had a fragile neck. And also Angeline’s anime eyes.

3. CI Club Room – that’s where we found that awkward looking thing which was used to hit Koon Yoon and Gek Poh.

4. SCI Roof top – the light was so good, we had to include the last shot with Tingyi’s shadow.

After saying all this, my point is just to tell you guys out there to VOTE FOR US!!!

Greatness Awaits Thee!

August 27, 2007 - One Response

All that should be said about our blog and what we’re doing here have been said.

Really, I don’t know what to write here. Or what I’m doing here at all. Hmm. Just brings to mind the whole notion of existentialism…

Anyhow! Welcome to Makoweiz first blog, chronicling, or rather shamelessly publicising, our very first production! It has been a gruelling three weeks with super tight deadlines and resources. It’s really quite a feat, even with the simple story and simplistic story-telling. Kudos to May, Shan and Faiz!

Just want to say that it has been quite an experience (though the challenge of the words leave much to be desired). Yah. I think that’s all I want to say; if I can think of anything else, you can be sure there will be another post right up. Heh.

Take care, and bless you!
